FAQs - ABOUT PHAROX LED BULB
Why should I switch to a Pharox LED bulb?
The Pharox LED bulb offers considerable savings in energy, bulb replacement and recycling costs and significant reduction of CO2 emissions without compromising light quality.
How much money will I save?
You could save up to $280 per lifetime in energy saving when replacing your 60 watt incandescent with the Pharox60 – 6 watt LED bulb (calculated at 15 per kWh over 35,000 hours). See our energy saving calculator for more variable calculation.
Can I use it like a regular bulb or do I need to buy new fixtures?
Pharox LED bulb can be used for direct replacement on
your existing fixtures (standard E26, 110Vac 50-60Hz)
Will the light look the same as an incandescent
bulb? Pharox LED light has been tested with the
highest standard per IESNA-LM79-2008 (see
lighting facts).
Do users like light quality of the Pharox LED bulb?
Consumer favor the warm white light the Pharox LED bulb emits through the precise mix RGB (red, green, blue). Colors become more expressive under the RGB lamp, especially skin tones. Recent research by scientific institutes in Europe and the USA has resulted in a new view on color perception.
Will the Pharox LED bulb work with a dimmer?
Pharox 60 – 6 watt LED bulb can be dimmed through most commercial available dimmers.
For dimmer information, please go to dimmer compatibility section.
How long will the bulb last?
With Pharox LED bulb excellent thermal management technology, the bulb can last for 35,000 hours, down to L70 (70% brightness)
Have the Pharox LED bulbs been tested and/or approved by a reputable industry source?
The Pharox LED bulbs have been tested by NMI (a Dutch measurement institution) and have received CE, KEMA, and UL certification.
NMI (an independent testing, certification, calibration, and training institute in the Netherlands) has tested the bulbs’ light output, power consumption and color.
CE (from the French Conformite Europeenne) ensures that products meet Eropena Union standards in terms of health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Where can the Pharox bulb be use for best results?
The Pharox LED light is concentrated in a downward direction. It provides the highest quality and intensity of light when used in downward facing fixtures, such as desk or bed lamp or recessed ceiling cans.
FAQs - Sustainability and the Environment
How safe is the Pharox LED bulb?
Pharox LED bulb is very safe as it does not contain any toxic substances (such as mercury, wolfram, or quicksilver) and does not produce heat.
How can I recycle the Pharox LED bulb?
Pharox LED bulb is 100% recyclable and should be placed with other metals as indicated within your municipality. This is in contrast to the CFL bulbs, they contain mercury that cause harm to the environment. CFL bulbs must be disposed at the designated recycle locations.
How does the Pharox LED bulb save energy?
The energy use of the Pharox LED bulb is only 10% of a normal incandescent bulb. Pharox LED bulb generates low heat compares to incandescent bulbs, where 90% of the energy becomes heat.
How can I calculate my energy use/carbon footprint with the Pharox LED bulb?
You can use the energy saving calculator on our website.
Does the Pharox LED bulb contain mercury or any other toxic substances?
Pharox LED bulb does not contain mercury or any toxic substances.
FAQs - Learning About LED Technology
 |
What should I look for when purchasing an LED bulb?
When purchasing a LED bulb you should pay attention to the amount of Lumen and Kelvin it produces. Lumen tells you the light output. The more lumen, the more light the LED bulb gives. Kelvin gives you the color of the light. The smaller the degrees Kelvin, the warmer the light of the LED.
Why do LED bulbs cost more than CFLs or incandescent?
LED bulb is a new technology, but as they are manufactured by more and more companies, the prices on such bulbs will drop over time. LED bulbs are already cheaper than incandescent bulbs over a long period.
Why do LED lamps last so much longer than CFLs or incandescent bulbs?
Based on LED technology and with good heat management technology, LED lamps will yield much longer lifetime compared to CFLs or incandescent bulbs.
What exactly is an LED?
LED is the abbreviation for ‘Light Emitting Diodes’. A LED is a semiconductor which emits light. A single LED is small and gives relatively small light output. By grouping them the light output rises. The color of the LED depends on the material used. A LED bulb is made of a group of LEDs. All the characteristics of the LEDs used together determine the emission angle, luminous flux, light intensity and color display.
What is a CFL?
CFL is the abbreviation for Compact Fluorescent Light. CFL bulbs use argon, mercury vapor to create an ultraviolet light. The ultraviolet light then reacts with phosphor which in turn produces visible light.
What is an incandescent?
Incandescent bulbs use a tungsten filament that is heated by an electric current to produce visible light. Incandescent bulbs are extremely inefficient as the majority of energy consumed by bulbs using incandescent technology is converted into heat, as opposed to visible light.
Why is LED considered to be the future of lighting products?
The LED is a new technology, which produces bulbs that are 90 % more energy efficient than the incandescent bulbs. Furthermore the LED bulb lasts for more than 20 years. That’s good for your wallet and good for the environment. Besides that, the incandescent bulb will soon be banned.
FAQs - Technical Specifications
Are the Pharox LED bulbs available for existing home and office fixtures?
What types of retrofitting are necessary?
This LED technology fits into any fixture, however they should not be used in an enclosed fixture with a cover over it as it will raise the temperature. The Pharox LED bulbs are designed for standard residential use.
Can I use Pharox LED bulbs on 110 DC voltage?
No, Pharox LED bulbs works only on 110 AC voltage.
Can I use Pharox LED bulbs for outdoor application?
Yes, as long as the bulb is inside closed fixture, but we don’t recommend it as using LED bulb in close fixture will raised the temperature thus shorten lifetime of the LED.
Can Pharox LED bulb be used for emergency light?
No, per UL safety code, it is prohibited to use LED bulb for emergency light unless indicated.
Can the Pharox LED bulbs break?
Yes, Pharox LED bulb is made of recyclable glass and die cast aluminum materials.
Can I use Pharox LED bulb with my existing clam shade?
Yes, the shape of Pharox LED bulb is very similar to regular incandescent bulbs.
